Description

Cryptolepis “sanguinolenta” Discussion:

We would like to start by mentioning that cryptolepis is one of THE most successful herbs that we have worked with. Cryptolepis is an invasive climbing shrub that has received lots of attention recently. It’s main and considered to be its strongest compound, cryptolepine is currently being studied for its potent bacterial support and cytotoxicity. There are many species of cryptolepis, although sanguinolenta has been the most thoroughly studied, said to be the most potent, and more costly. You want to get what you pay for, therfore knowing that this species of cryptolepis has is bright yellow in color. The other species, buchanani, is green or brown.

This is a wonderful broad-spectrum herb that may cleanse the blood, including parasites, bacteria, resistant malaria, tick-borne and other bug bite illnesses, viruses, and fungus. This herb can be used long-term. It has been historically used for malaria in Africa and has been promising as effective for the resistant types of malaria, even compared to some medications. We are told that medications may utilize its compound cryptolepine. Ironically, while some may have a reaction to any medication made from it, when you take an herb in its natural form, that side effect does not normally take place (1). It is an excellent herb for Lyme disease support, and it is one of Buhner’s top 5 natural antibiotic-supportive recommended herbs. As it turns out, these three herbs are the primary ones suggested by Dr. Buhner to support most all mycobacterium infections! It doesn’t seem to matter if they are gram-positive or gram-negative! (1)

It may break down biofilms, which is a gel matrix that encases pathogens, rendering anti-infectives from reaching infections. The biofilm gel layer acts as a protectant and may be made up of many pathogens combined, which can make most any resistant infection hard to treat. Using herbs like cryptolepis, combined with other herbs, which you can find some of our blends below, may create a highly medicinal Lyme tonic that may be gut-protective, without compromising the flora biome, as some commonly used antibiotics can.

Cryptolepis has been compared to a Co-vid treatment medication, Hydroxychloroquine. It is similar because they both specialize in blood-borne parasites. Some question that the co-vid infection may be connected to a pre-existing heavy parasite load of blood, lungs, and gut. In his book, “Natural Treatments for Lyme Coinfections”, Buhner states that he has “found it specifically effective for systemic infections, especially malaria, MRSA, streptococcus, babesia, campylobacter, urinary tract infections, and sepsis” (2). It is used by traditional healers overseas for things like hepatitis, jaundice, stomach and intestinal disease, upper respiratory tract infections, colic, stomach ailments, wounds, snakebite, hernia, venereal disease, rheumatism, a general tonic, amoebic infections, dysentery, hypertension, ulcers, blood purifier, diuretic, paralysis, rickets, cough, febrifuge, inflammation, pain, muscle and joints, and plasmodial parasites.

Dr. Buhner tells us that it may also be an effective way to support the treatment of Mycoplasma, which is a blood pathogen (1). Cryptolepis is a gentler way to target infections than pharmaceuticals, with fewer possible side effects. As a preventative, it’s highly recommended to take it before ever being exposed to any type of virus or pathogenic infection. Of course, more testing needs to take place but it’s a great companion herb to other preventative herbs.

It has been notated that some research has shown that cryptolepis may elevate ALP (alkaline phosphate) and uric acid levels (1). It has shown promising results as a remedy for insomnia as well. Cryptolepis may prevent DNA replication, due to mechanisms involved with its compound, cryptolepine, and the unwinding of the DNA helix (1). It may be considered a “go to” herb for support with a babesia or malaria infection. It is also antimicrobial and antiprotozoal. It may support the symptoms that come along with these types of infections, like chronic sweating, diarrhea, fever.

We mainly offer tinctures, due to the rarity, cost, and having to wait nearly a month to receive this herb. While tinctures are a great way to take it, the water extracted herbal tea has been the most successful method of administration for this herb. We do offer it in 1 oz. and 6 oz. bagged herbal tea portions. While the hot tea is the traditional way to use cryptolepis, tinctures may be the strongest variation. It may be ideal to make some tea out of your tincture by adding 2 droppers per 4 oz. of hot water. Click on the names to view some of our blends that contain cryptolepis and Cats Claw (CryptoClaw blend), and Andrographis (Pathogen Purge blend). We seem to have tons of blends that actually contain it, therefore keep on the lookout for them!

Product Variations:

We highly recommend getting 2 different variations of the following to know exactly what a specific herb will, or will not do for you, as well as to achieve saturation.

Standard Tincture Herbal compounds extracted in an alcohol base. Alcohol offers a superior absorption rate. We recommend allowing your dose to sit under the tongue for 3+ minutes, then swallowing it down with a drink of water. Otherwise, you may add it to 4 oz. of water, juice, or a smoothie. Microscopic compounds are readily available to be absorbed through tissues, into the bloodstream, and then circulated to organs.

Lipospheric Tincture – This is a standard tincture that is put through an energetic process. We collide the herbal compounds with oxygen molecules, to encase them both within an oxygenated bubble. The difference can be clearly seen because the tincture lightens in color. The lipospheres’ may have the capability to surpass the bioavailability of a standard tincture, although it exhibits all of the same benefits.

Glycerite – Herbal compounds extracted in vegetable glycerin. This contains NO alcohol and NO sugar. The taste of glycerin resembles syrup, which makes it ideal for children. This version may be best for those highly sensitive or are seeking a nonalcoholic extraction. Doses may need to be up to three times higher than a tincture to receive similar benefits. They can be taken in the same way as tinctures, which is in 4 oz. of water, juice, or a smoothie.

Vegetarian Capsule – Size 00, vegetarian capsules, hand-encapsulated, to order. The capsule is swallowed with at least 4 oz. of water or juice, which is broken down by stomach acids. Once the herbal compounds go through digestion, they then get absorbed by tissues.

Herbal TeaTeabags are handmade to order and can be brewed up to three times each. The constituents will be continually extracted with each brew. Be sure to squeeze the bag gently upon finishing your cup of lovely tea. The label specifies the brewing instructions, which highly depends on the parts of the plant that are used in the tea. Keep in mind, this is medicinal tea and there are no additives. It may be best to drink as is, without adding a sugar substitute. Don’t forget the slurry, medicinal residue that settles to the bottom of the cup!

Loose Herbal Powder – We take pride in the freshness and quality of our herbal powders, as we hand-grind down each herb to order, as well as in any above process. Our inventory of herbs is always purchased, when possible, in whole form, if it is not wildcrafted by us. We ethically wildcraft many herbs, which ensures the highest content of medicinal compounds and freshness. We also attempt to include every part of the plant, if possible. We believe wildcrafted, and full spectrum to be the superior version of any herb. If an herb is wildcrafted, it will indicate so on each label by the abbreviation “WC”. The same goes for full spectrum, as each label indicates the parts used. We give multiple part options for each herb individually as well.
