Pleurotus ostreatus (Oyster) Mushroom Products

Description

Specialties of Oyster Mushroom:

Oyster mushroom is also known as “Pleurotus ostreatus”. They have become very popular as a culinary additive, in addition to their medicinal benefits, all of which are very appealing! There are many colors that are available, such as white, yellow, blue, brown, gray, pink, gold, and they have very defined gills. We use the golden, yellow oyster mushrooms. They grow in clusters with caps that resemble oyster shells, hence the name. They are described to have a flavor that is nutty, earthy, and can go with any dish!

Oyster mushrooms are known to possibly help with blood sugar levels after you eat! This is especially true for dried mushrooms or the powder. Oyster mushrooms have been compared to the Venus fly trap plant, due to its ability to paralyze nematodes, such as roundworms. There are enzymatic reactions that take place to digest the immobile body of them afterwards. Using this mushroom may help to lower triglyceride levels in the liver, yet more studies are needed.

Oyster mushrooms may offer support for things such as the liver, kidneys, energy, chills of the hands and feet, impotence, weakness, back pain, immunity-boosting, cholesterol, heart health, gut homeostasis, blood sugar levels, allergies, and it is said to help in the prevention of spreading cancer cells. Oyster mushrooms are chosen for mycoremediation, due to its binding capabilities, which have an affinity for heavy metals, petroleum byproducts, pollutants, and bacteria. They may potentially help to balance the body, just as they do in the environment!

Oyster mushrooms are dense in vitamin D, potassium, vitamin B complex, protein, fiber, phosphorus, zinc, selenium, and many essential amino acids. This particular mushroom only contains trace amounts of vitamin c and selenium. They actually contain more fiber than most other mushrooms offer! This website tells us that we will receive 21% of the daily intake recommended for niacin when you eat these mushrooms. Since it is a high source of niacin, if taken in high amounts, it may act as a niacin flush!

Lastly, the compounds of oyster mushrooms are limited. This study shows that its glucosylceramide constituents have shown antimicrobial activity towards E. coli and Staphylococcus aureus. Then again, these are the two pathogens that were used as controls, meaning the only two in the study. They have barely scratched the surface of the possibilities of this mushroom, especially when it comes to pathogens!

Benefits of All Medicinal Mushrooms:

All edible mushrooms may have something to offer, including the button mushrooms found at the grocery store. Some are gentle, while others need to be respected, requiring caution on the first use. Always start slowly, work up to the recommended dose. Mushroom products, including liquids, can be used internally and externally. You can use them in a detox bath, directly on the skin, lesions, sores, or any blemish.

We wildcraft, or purchase wildcrafted when possible, which contain every part, including some of the mycelium. The stems actually work synergistically with the cap! Do not throw them away! The stem is known as a potentiator, meaning that it may enhance other plant compound actions, due to its beta glucans. These are the constituents that are known for its support with macrophages and the immune system, and neutrophils. Beta glucans are also said to lower cholesterol absorption, as it moves through the digestive tract, and in turn supports heart health. Mushrooms are dense in water-soluble fiber, which may provide bowel motivation. Ribonucleotides are found in the stem and are responsible for the flavors.

The biggest question we get asked is, “Can I eat mushrooms with candida or fungal issues?” Candida feeds on simple sugars, something that mushrooms do not contain. Mushrooms contain an abundance of antioxidants, polysaccharides, ribonucleotides, and protein-bound polysaccharides, which are the constituent that fights candida.

Mushrooms supply a complete vitamin B complex! A vitamin B deficiency is commonly associated with pathogenic issues. They do not feed on the vitamin B compounds that we eat. Rather, they break down our tissues to feed on the nutritive content.

Many claim the phenolic compounds are responsible for antioxidant capabilities, which mushrooms are packed with. Most mushrooms are high in terpenes, lectins, and polysaccharides. The polysaccharides may have an effect on pathogen cytoplasmatic membranes, resulting in becoming vulnerable to its compounds. Antioxidants are supportive for free radicals and oxidative stress. This in turn supports cellular health and protection. The vitamin C supports immunity and heart health as well.

Mushrooms contain niacin, some more than others. Those dense in niacin, act as a flush for toxins and toxic matter. Mushrooms also have some of the most potent anti-inflammatory compounds found and are known to be highly supportive of the immune system! This is mostly due to their cytokine modulating compounds, which are like tiny switches that turn parts of our immunity on and off. Our own immune system can be responsible for inflammatory attacks. Pathogens manipulate our immune system, rather than do the work themselves.

They are rich in riboflavin, niacin, and pantothenic acid. When you receive these compounds together, you may be protecting heart health. Riboflavin is beneficial for your red blood cells and niacin supports digestive health and skin.

They contain selenium, potassium, copper, iron, and phosphorus. They are also high in antioxidants, such as ergothioneine and glutathione, which are said to be preventatives and supportive of many types of neurological issues, especially the more common and chronic ones. As a matter of fact, by consuming them daily, you may boost brain health, memory, and lessen cognitive decline.

They are also immune stimulators and boosters. Mushrooms are highly protective of the liver, which is especially helpful to those suffering from fungal and pathogenic issues because the liver works overtime to process their toxins.

Many are looking to supplement vitamin D. There are a few other ways to get it. There is the synthetic form, which many say didn’t agree with them, which is also used in brand name rodent poisons. You can go out into the sun, which may only be possible at certain times of the year. Mushrooms are the only plant source of vitamin D. They create it with a compound called ergosterol. Click Here to learn more. They naturally synthesize vitamin D from sunlight, which means they may support anything that vitamin D is known for, including bone health and strength!

We offer a UV Light Bath, for all mushroom products, including the powders. The tinctures are the highest recommended to be bathed in light because it is said that the process may enhance them by up to 4000%! By placing your mushrooms, and herbs dense in chlorophyll, the vitamin D and nutritional content may be massively increased. You can purchase a UV light to give your own mushrooms   bath by going over to that page. You cany read more about this process by going over to our blog “Medicinal Mushrooms Game Changer – Boosting Vitamin D.

We have many types of medicinal mushrooms, some of which can only be found here! Click on the mushroom’s name to be redirected to its individual page, elsewhere on this website – Bondarzewia, Button, Chaga, Cordyceps, Lion’s Mane, Maitake, Oyster, Reishi, Ringless Honey, Shitake, Sulfur Shelf “Chicken of the Woods”, Trumpet, and lastly, we have a blend of all of them called MediMush.

Herbal Product Variations

Our herbs are offered in the following “Methods of Administrations”: standard tincture, liposhperic (colloidal/oxygenated) tincture, vegetable glycerite, herbal tea, encapsulated, loose powder, infused oil, detox soap, or as topical ointment.

“Methods of Administration” is a term referring to the way herbal substances are delivered into the body. It is ultimately how it enters the bloodstream to take effect. Any herbal liquids is a pre-extraction, meaning the solution is saturated with compounds that are pre-extracted, or already pulled out, which makes them ready for uptake by the body. Digestion is the process that the body uses to pull compounds out of the herb in a manner that then allows them to then pass into the tissues. When using liquids, the work is already done. Sensitivities may actually simply be triggered by the digestive wastes and byproducts that are created in digestive chemical reactions. If those most sensitive eat or sleep, before or after taking herbs, as well as grasp the concept of bypassing digestion, their reactions may become limited to none!

Liquids may be the fastest at pulling pre-extracted compounds in through tissues, including the skin and belly button. Herbal tea contains extracted compounds, previously pulled out by, and suspended in, the liquid. This is also the case with detox soap as well, as it becomes solidified after the fluid has already pulled the constituents out. The most bioavailable (absorbable) liquid base known for internal use is alcohol, which may be enhanced by the liposphere process, making it the most superior method. Sometimes specific compounds can only be unlocked by heat, cold, or both! At the same time, compounds may be more soluble by a specific base. Powders can be more potent, yet they can take longer to be processed by the body, as they require digestion and if encapsulated it may take even longer. Treatment is an individual process and understanding factors such as these may change the game!

Saturation is to submerge your body with herbal compounds on the inside, and it can be achieved by taking our herbs in at least two different variations. It ensures that the active medicinal compounds are present in the proper amounts to be the most effective. An herb’s active compounds are what is responsible for its medicinal properties. Without saturation, herbs may not offer the results your expecting, especially if you are trying to target a resistant infection. Think outside of the box for ways to saturate your body – alongside, or without digestion for those sensitive. The more methods of administration taken, and more frequently, the more saturated your body will become!

We take pride in the freshness and quality of our herbs. Our first choice is herbs that we wildcraft ourselves, as they are of the highest medicinal quality in our opinion. Our next top choice will always be whole plant matter wildcrafted by a trusted source, and lastly organic. We store our herbs in whole form and hand-grind them fresh – to order. Wildcrafting also allows us to include multiple parts of a plant, many of which cannot be found anywhere else! There is a natural synergy that takes place when using multiple plant parts that results in increased enzymatic and antioxidant activity. For example, when you add the flower of the green tea plant with its leaf, the activity can be enhanced by a few thousand percent! Wildcrafted herbs are indicated on our labels by the abbreviation “WC”.

Standard Tincture

Known as a traditional tincture that contains herbal compounds extracted in an alcohol base. Tinctures are known to offer the highest bioavailability (see “Lipospheric” below). The pre-extracted compounds are immediately ready for uptake by the tissues that allow passage into the bloodstream, which is capable of circulating them to the organs.

A single tincture may be taken by placing drops directly under the tongue and allowing it to sit for 3+ minutes. However, if you are taking multiple tinctures this may not be ideal, due to an intensified burning sensation, not to mention the amount and taste of alcohol. We suggest using an equal portion of each that equates a full dose, as specified by the label. Droppers do not fill up with a single squeeze, but a single squeeze is considered as “1 dropper”.

It may be most effective to take your tinctures multiple times daily, as long as the label directions approve. As far as shelf life, tinctures have been found in caves from thousands of years ago that were still chemically active! Alcohol ages. It does not spoil.

Our tinctures are made with freshly-ground, whole Oyster mushroom.

A lipospheric tincture is a traditional tincture, as, above that has been put through an alchemical, hour-long, oxygenation process. All information about a traditional tincture, as above, also applies to lipospheric tinctures. To ensure freshness and the bioavailability, keep your lipospheric products refrigerated. There are many terms that refer to the liposphere process, such as “colloidal” and a “microencapsulated”. Not to toot our own horn but we are THE pioneers of lipospheric tinctures, as we have been making them for a decade!

We mentioned above that alcohol bases offer the highest bioavailability. However, a lipospheric tincture offers the highest achievable bioavailability. It results in an instant color change of the solution. Each, individual, extracted molecule becomes suspended within tiny bubble, collided with an oxygen molecule. The enclosed bubbles keep the compounds active longer and it oxygenates our cells. The way the body utilizes lipospheres can be described to be similar to how plants intake naturally collided nutrients from the soil through its roots.

We now have “Herbal & Essential Oil Fusions”, which are our signature herbal blends that contain trace amounts of essential oils, which may pack even more of a punch! Normally, when you add essential oil to water, they float on the surface, separated from the solution. After being put through the lipospheric process, the essential oil becomes evenly dispersed and incorporated in every drop of the solution.

Our lipospheric tinctures are made with freshly-ground, whole Oyster mushroom.

Glycerite

Herbal compounds are extracted in a non-alcoholic base of vegetable glycerin. It has a very sweet taste but does not contain alcohol or sugar. The sweet taste makes it ideal for children and those sensitive. Glycerites are taken in the same way as tinctures. Glycerites require a higher dosage than a tincture to receive comparable benefits. A single glycerite may be taken by placing drops directly under the tongue and allowing it to sit for 3+ minutes. However, if you are taking multiple glycerites we suggest using an equal portion of each that equates a full dose, as specified by the label. Droppers do not fill up with a single squeeze, but a single squeeze is considered as “1 dropper”.

It may be most effective to take your glycerites multiple times daily, as long as the label directions approve.

Our glycerites are made with freshly-ground, whole Oyster mushroom.

Vegetarian Capsules

We grind and hand-encapsulate our herbs into vegetarian capsules – to order – never sitting on a shelf. For this reason, we require a bit of extra time to ship your capsules. We use size 00 capsules, which offer approximately 750 mg. of herb. Extracts, enzymes, and child/animal capsules come in small, size 1 capsules, which offer approximately 350 mg. of herb. If taking capsules is difficult for you, it may be easier to use a straw to drink large amounts of water to wash them down.

We charge flat rates for our encapsulations. This reflects the time it takes to prepare them. Some herbs do not grind down to a fine powder and may be much more difficult to encapsulate. You may not find herbal encapsulations any fresher than what we offer.

Our capsules are made with freshly-ground, whole Oyster mushroom.

Herbal Tea

Our teabags are prepared with hand-ground, cut & sifted plant matter that is ground to order. Otherwise, if whole plant parts are not available, they will contain powder. There is approximately 1 tsp. of herb per bag. Each bag can be brewed up to three times, making up to 3 cups of lovely tea. Constituents will be extracted with each brew, even if the flavor seems to be gone. Be sure to squeeze the bag gently upon finishing and don’t forget to drink the medicinal residue that settles in the bottom of the cup.

We recommend making a concentrate, as long as it consists of mostly root, stem, or leaf. We say this because flowers are delicate and only require a quick, 5-minute steep in very hot, yet not boiling hot, water. Each label specifies the brewing instructions for that specific herb.

Please keep in mind that when it comes to hand-bagging herbal teas, the lighter the plant material is, the more bags you will end up getting to fill the weight. For example, if you order 1 oz. of root to be bagged, you may get 10-15 bags. However, if you get flower bagged tea, you could end up with 30+ bags to equal 1 oz.

The only sugar substitute that we recommend if you are being health conscious is stevia leaf powder, not extract. Lemon may be added. Herbal tea has an earthy flavor, used for the medicinal benefits, rather than taste. You can brew large portions of tea, storing it in the fridge, for up to 5 days. To get the most out of your tea, drink it multiple times throughout the day. Diluted, therapeutic-grade essential oils, in only the proper dilution, may also give your tea flavor.

Our tea bags contain freshly-ground, whole Oyster mushroom.

Loose Herbal Powder

Again, we first choose wildcrafted, then followed by organic. They are stored in whole form and hand-ground to order, never sitting on a shelf. With fibrous plants, large machinery is required to make fine powders. Therefore, some plants may be best as a pre-extraction. Below we indicate the texture that a plant grinds down to become.

Our Oyster mushroom grinds down into a silky-fine powder.

Topical Ointment

Our herbal salves are made with the same oil-based recipe that we use in our Remed~Ease. Instead of the herbs that salve is known for, we add the herbs of your choice. Each ointment is scented with an essential oil of the same plant or one with similar medicinal properties.

Our Oyster mushroom salve is scented with our Myrrh essential oil. Click on its name to be redirected to its page for its details.

Infused Oil

We delicately infuse a blend of sunflower and jojoba oil with the herb of your choice. Each infused oil is scented with essential oil of the same plant or one with similar medicinal properties.

Our Oyster mushroom infused oil contains our Myrrh essential oil. Click on its name to be redirected to its page for its details.

Organic Detox Soap

As we stated above, even our detox soap is considered to be an infusion. When the soap base is hot, it extracts the compounds of your herb of choice. We use the same base as our detox soap Suds~Ease™. Our soap generally comes as a brick but occasionally it may be in the shape of a flower. Soap bricks come in 8 oz. portions. Each herbal soap is scented with an essential oil of the same plant or one with similar medicinal properties.
