Magnolia is one of the most elegant and beautiful trees that you will see. It is one of the first bloomers in the Spring! Its goblet, cup-shaped flowers come out before its leaves and there are over 200 species. These products are a blend of the Grandiflora and Obovata species. The Saucercup Magnolia is a variety of the Obovata species, therefore if you read about the benefits specific to Obovata, this includes the Saucercup that we use. Both have unique compounds to offer, while also sharing others and by blending the two, this blend has much more synergy to offer than a single species.
Magnolia is considered to be a fundamental herb in Chinese medicine, as it has many uses and unique medicinal compounds. It was utilized by Native Americans as an antimalarial. It’s most impressive benefits are its support with anxiety, menstrual cramping, mood swings, lowering bad cholesterol, liver protection, depression, headaches, muscle spasms, blood concerns, intestinal worms and parasites, and respiratory health. The flowers are also used by others for hair loss. The bark is a potent detoxifier for the body, supporting weight loss and gain, and protection against severe allergies and allergic reactions. It has a medicinal compound called Honokiol, which has been patented and extracted for use as a supplement. Honokiol directly impacts hormonal balance of the body, especially with stress hormones. It is an endocrine regulator and may help with anxiety. It is said to lower hormonal releases. This is the same pathway it uses to help with depression. It may stimulate the release of dopamine and other pleasurable hormones. Magnolia may also help with dental health, especially gingivitis, which consists of bleeding and inflamed gums.
Many herbalists use magnolia for menstrual cramping and the mood benefits, to “kill two birds with one stone”, so to say. Magnolia is highly suggested for support with certain respiratory issues, like bronchitis, coughing, excessive phlegm, and asthma. It may naturally stimulate corticosteroids that specialize in responding to breathing events. Magnolia bark is rich in aromatic compounds, which are unique, medicinal compounds that specialize in respiratory benefits. It’s blossoms are dense in natural essential oils that contain two signature compounds, Eudesmol and Biphenol, which are responsible for the intensity of the fragrance and pharmacological effects.
It may have a steroid-mimicking property, which may help to strengthen your resistance to allergies. Some sites touch on Magnolia’s abilities to restrict cancer cell proliferation, which is a potential benefit of the Honokiol compound. This also may be an amazing choice for any type of weight concern. It may help to curb, or stimulate, the appetite for those that want to lose, or gain, weight. It may also mimic cortisol, which may make it highly beneficial for blood sugar support.
In the Spring you may want to harvest Saucercup flowers and branches, then come back in the summer to harvest the leaf. For the grandifolia variety, you may want to do the opposite and harvest the leaf in Spring, while coming back in summer to harvest the leaf. We feel that the Spring is the best time to wildcraft the grandifolia leaf because we notice a signifigant difference in the dense, green color you get with Spring harvesting of the leaf. This may be due to the chlorophyll content being more condensed this time of the year. You hear of the many parts of the tree, for example, inner and outer heartwood, as well as the bark, which is what you get by harvesting whole, small branches. Magnolia leaves are also considered to be a substitutes for bay leaves in cooking!
Magnolia may interact with certain medications. It may have blood-thinning and drowsy effects, therefore taking it close to any similar medication, may cause it to potentiate.
The variations for each product are in the order that we recommend for that specific one. This may give you an idea of which versions to get and where to start if you decide this is the route for you. There may be instances where we use an ingredient that can only come as a liquid. For example, pokeberry juice or essential oil. Only the liquid products will contain that specific ingredient and it will simply have to be left out of the powdered version. Herbal compounds may accumulate, over time. Saturation is key!
Standard Tinctures – Herbal compounds extracted in an alcohol base, which may offer the highest absorption. When a tincture sets under the tongue, the microscopic, pre-extracted compounds are readily bioavailable and they absorb through the tissue, similar to plant intake in nature! Alcohol may carry them into the bloodstream, where they may then may circulate to the organs. For this particular blend, we recommend a tincture.
Lipospheric Tinctures – Standard tinctures are put through an energetic process to collide the herbal compounds and encase them in oxygenated bubbles. This method is an oxygenation process, which completely changes the color of the solution. This version of a tincture may always off the highest absorption.
Capsules – Size 00, vegetable capsules. Our capsules are handmade, to order.
Herbal Tea – Each teabag can be brewed up to three times, resulting in three cups of tea, each. Generally, this means that you may get 60-75 cups of tea per 6 oz. order! Each label specifies the brewing instructions, which highly depends on the parts used in the tea. If you wish to have loose herb, rather than bagged as it comes, simply leave a note specifying so, while completing your order.
Glycerites – Herbal compounds extracted in vegetable glycerin. This may be ideal for those most sensitive and especially children.
Tinctures are animal & child-safe, at the appropriate dosage. They can be used as an additive to personal products like lotion, detox bath, nebulizing, topically, and even as belly button soaks. Best results may come with working up to the highest dose, staying consistent.
We always choose unprocessed, ethically wildcrafted plant material, when possible. We also add freshly harvested, green plant material, wherever we can! This allows for a rare and unique availability of enzymes. Normally these enzymes are lost in the drying process and as far as we know, we are unique to us. Many companies that make simple elixirs don’t even know how to do it properly!
When we purchase herbs, we choose whole plant material, for us to grind into a silky fine powder, as we need it. This ensures quality, freshness, and abundant compounds. “Full-spectrum” means that the product contains every part of the plant, including the roots, and wherever we can, we even add the seed, flower, and/or fruit!
We have had our products energetically tested by an energetic practitioner, using a bioresonance scanning system that is well-known. She reported back that our products were over 300% more energetic than any others in her system! Over the years customers have continued to energetically test our products with their own body and they have passed every test they have ever been put through. Some say they have even surpassed the major brands!
Always use herbals wisely and with common sense!
