Our honeysuckle hydrosol is distilled from the wildcrafted aerial parts of the vine, including the leaf, inner heartwood, outer heartwood, and a generous amount of the flower.

Hydrosol & HydroTea™ Discussion:

We are very excited to offer, not only the clear distillate, but also the concentrated drippings that we call HydroTea™! You can add 2 droppers of the HydroTea™ to a cup of hot water to make a strong herbal tea, with little to no work at all. If you purchase the two together there is a discount. Both are created with a process that takes over 24 hours of distilling the plant material. 

While there are trace amounts of essential oil in the hydrosol, it is not what we are after! We are seeking out the concentrated water-soluble compounds. Hydrosols are considered to be interchangeable to the cold-processed essential oil in its benefits and uses.

A hydrosol is an essence that contains the life force of a plant in a colloidal suspension of the vitamins, nutrients, acids, essential oils, aromatic constituents, and other soluble compounds. It is made by distilling the plant material.

The distillation process is that of when the material releases substances in the form of steam, which then turns back into liquid upon contact with cool temperatures. The hydrosol may smell and taste like whatever it is made from. As long as the plant material is edible, so is the hydrosol made from it.

This also applies to the HydroTea™! It may be used as needed. When you feel cough or cold symptoms coming on, you can take a concentrated shot of the drippings, or to use it daily you may dilute 2 droppers in 4 oz. of hot water to make a traditional strength cup of tea.

Hydrosols are recommended to be used in many ways, which include but are not limited to an astringent splash, body or facial spray, room/linen spray, diffuser additive, nebulizing additive, gargle solution, blemish or acne application, detox bath additive, belly button soak, food/tea flavoring, and in most other ways the essential oil is normally used. 

Keep your hydrosols in the fridge for a longer shelf life and to make your sprays cool and refreshing!
