This is an herb that we have found to be very helpful in fighting many different ailments, as we have worked with it for years now. We use the species “tinctoria” and we utilize both the root and leaf, although you get options for which parts you want when you purchase it. It is a potent antimicrobial, especially against mycoplasma species, and it is an invasive, which is an aspect that we render superior. We are told that while the root is the most commonly known as the medicinal part, the leaves have much to offer, although these compounds are only converted into their most medicinal form with drying them. Ironically, the root compounds are very similar because they too have systemic fungal-mopping capabilities but they need to be heated, as in herbal tea, to be released. This tells us that the tea variation may be the best way to use this plant, utilizing heat to unlock the magic in both the leaves and root.

When heated, it releases potent anti-inflammatory constituents that are also potent support for Toxoplasmal, Malarial, and Leishmanial parasites. (1) Dr. Buhner tells us that it is a strong anti-viral as well, inhibiting replication, cell attachment, and acting similar to Tamiflu in potency. (1) In the herbal world it is also considered to be an immune stimulant, antiallergenic, a tyrosinase inhibitor, antioxidant, antifungal, antibacterial, ,antiparasitic, antileukemic, antitumor, urease inhibitor, and an antagonist of dioxin. (1) As a matter of fact, Dr. Buhner suggests it for any mycoplasma, influenza, coronavirus, swine virus, coxsackie virus, rubella virus, avian virus, respiroatory virus, measles, mumps, chicken pox, Epstein-Barr virus, herpes virus, cytomegalovirus, Staph, Toxoplasma, Plasmodium, Leishmania, Pseudomonsa, Trchophyton, Aspergillus, Candida, Macrophomina, Sporosarcina, leukemic infections, and for cancers of the liver.(1) Buhner tells us that it is specific for rashes, sore throat, laryngitis, respiratory ailments, and tonsilitis associated with a mycoplasmal infection. (1)

What we find most interesting about this herb is that it is endotoxin protective. It will act on red blood cell infections as well. (1) It has long been used in TCM and many herbalists use it as a general tonic and for GI tract issues. In TCM, it is used as a cold, heat-clearing herb. Dr. Buhner tells us about a study where endotoxins from gram-negative bacteria were injected into rabbits. The outcome was fever reduction and 84% of the endotoxins were destroyed and the rate of death went from 70% to 20% with the administration of isatis extracts. (1) It has urease inhibition properties, which is an enzyme found in many types of bacteria, yeasts, and fungi.

Generally, the leaf is an antiviral, while the root is antibacterial. We may actually be one of the only sources that offer both the root and leaf, as well as give options as to which parts you prefer to purchase. Isatis is so powerful that if used alone, it may be best to take it for three weeks, then taking a week break. Product Variations:

We highly recommend getting 2 different variations of the following to know exactly what a specific herb will, or will not do for you, as well as to achieve saturation.

Standard Tincture – Herbal compounds extracted in an alcohol base. Alcohol offers a superior absorption rate. We recommend allowing your dose to sit under the tongue for 3+ minutes, then swallowing it down with a drink of water. Otherwise, you may add it to 4 oz. of water, juice, or a smoothie. Microscopic compounds are readily available to be absorbed through tissues, into the bloodstream, and then circulated to organs.

Lipospheric Tincture – This is a standard tincture that is put through an energetic process. We collide the herbal compounds with oxygen molecules, to encase them both within an oxygenated bubble. The difference can be clearly seen because the tincture lightens in color. The lipospheres’ may have the capability to surpass the bioavailability of a standard tincture, although it exhibits all of the same benefits.

Glycerite – Herbal compounds extracted in vegetable glycerin. This contains NO alcohol and NO sugar. The taste of glycerin resembles syrup, which makes it ideal for children. This version may be best for those highly sensitive or are seeking a nonalcoholic extraction. Doses may need to be up to three times higher than a tincture to receive similar benefits. They can be taken in the same way as tinctures, which is in 4 oz. of water, juice, or a smoothie.

Vegetarian Capsule – Size 00, vegetarian capsules, hand-encapsulated, to order. The capsule is swallowed with at least 4 oz. of water or juice, which is broken down by stomach acids. Once the herbal compounds go through digestion, they then get absorbed by tissues.

Herbal Tea – Teabags are handmade to order and can be brewed up to three times each. The constituents will be continually extracted with each brew. Be sure to squeeze the bag gently upon finishing your cup of lovely tea. The label specifies the brewing instructions, which highly depends on the parts of the plant that are used in the tea. Keep in mind, this is medicinal tea and there are no additives. It may be best to drink as is, without adding a sugar substitute. Don’t forget the slurry, medicinal residue that settles to the bottom of the cup!
