Palo Santo Discussion:
This is a very sacred tree, which has religious, ceremonial, and medicinal uses.
This tree was used by indigenous people for centuries for many reasons. Today it is popular for things such as support with aches and pains, especially those associated with arthritis. It is a well-known insecticidal. The smoke of its wood was used by natives as a repellant for insects and for warding off negative energy by smudging. We include Palo Santo sticks in our own Smudging Solutions kit.
It is used as anti-inflammatory and for microbial support. It is also a potent astringent, which comes highly recommended to help counteract Rope Worm or excessive mucus production. A tincture may be ideal for most types of stomach issues, including digestion, metabolism, and even stimulate the digestive juices like a general bitter. It is sometimes used in bitters formulas. It may help to break down fats more efficiently, as well as benefit nutrient absorption.
It is said to help lower the response of stress, calm the mind, and bringing balance and homeostasis. Some websites list palo santo as an effective fever reducer. It is also said to be ideal for malarial support. It is also used by others to stimulate the menstrual cycle, diabetes, flatulence, colic, itchy skin, and scabies.
Our palo santo is purchased as whole sticks of inner/outer heartwood. It grinds down to a fluffy, fibrous powder. Below you can find more details on the variations that we offer, as well as how we obtain and process them.
Product Variations:
We offer every herb in multiple variations. For example, you can get it as a standard tincture, oxygenated tincture, glycerite, herbal tea, encapsulated, or as a loose powder. We highly recommend getting at least two variations of the preferred blend, to achieve saturation.
Standard Tincture – Herbal compounds extracted in an alcohol base. Alcohol may offer superior absorption rates. We recommend allowing your dose to sit under the tongue for 3+ minutes, then swallowing it down with water or juice. Microscopic compounds are bioavailable, readily available to be absorbed through tissues, into the bloodstream, then circulated to the organs.
Oxygenated Tincture – This is a standard tincture that is put through an oxygenation process, adding an oxygen molecule to the present herbal compounds. We collide the herbal compounds with oxygen molecules, to encase them both within an oxygenated bubble. The difference can be clearly seen because the tincture lightens in color. The lipospheres’ may have the capability to surpass the bioavailability of a standard tincture, although it exhibits all of the same benefits.
Glycerite – Herbal compounds extracted in vegetable glycerin. This variation is ideal for children and those sensitive to the alcohol because it has no alcohol, no sugar. It has a taste resembling syrup. Doses are approximately 2-3 times higher than a tincture so that you receive similar benefits. They can be taken in the same way as tinctures, which is in 4 oz. of water, juice, or a smoothie.
Vegetarian Capsule – Size 00, vegetarian capsules, hand-encapsulated, to order. The capsule is swallowed with at least 4 oz. of water or juice. We only offer the bark as capsules. It is purchased as whole chunks and ground down to encapsulate.
Herbal Tea – Tea bags are handmade to order. Each bag can be brewed up to three times. Constituents will be continually extracted with each brew. Be sure to squeeze the bag gently upon finishing your cup of lovely tea. The label specifies the brewing instructions, which highly depends on the parts of the plant that are used in the tea. It may be best to drink as is, without adding a sugar substitute. Don’t forget the medicinal residue that settles to the bottom of the cup! Palo Santo grinds down to a fluffy, fibrous powder. This means that a 1 oz. portion will create double amounts of tea bags than most other herbs.
Loose Herbal Powder – We take pride in the freshness and quality of our herbs. They are hand-ground, to order. Most of our herbs are wildcrafted by us. If we must purchase them, we first choose them in their whole form. We feel that ethically wildcrafted is superior, ensuring a denser content of medicinal compounds, freshness, as well as higher enzymatic/antioxidant activity. Wildcrafting also allows us to include as many parts as possible. We always indicate wildcrafted with the abbreviation “WC”.
Skin Salve – Our oil-based salve base that contains Palo santo. We only offer the bark as topical ointment. It is purchased as whole chunks and ground down to create ointment. It is scented with our Palo santo essential oil.
Infused Oil – We delicately infuse sunflower oil with the inner/outer heartwood. It is scented with our Palo santo essential oil.
Organic Soap – We offer infused, organic soap in 8 oz. portions. This is two 4 oz. bars. It is scented with our Palo santo essential oil. We only use the bark to infuse our soap, ground to order.
